Students are welcomed to the course
The course coordinator introduces themselves and provides a photo (photo could be part of welcome video), contact email & phone number, their office location and availability for consultation including how students can make an appointment. Contact information for other teaching staff in the course is also available.
Students are provided with instructions as to how to get started and how to navigate the MyUni course.
Clear expectations are provided regarding appropriate behaviours and etiquette for communication via email and discussion boards.
Course specific technology requirements and instructions for use are available.
Pre-requisite knowledge and required competencies not mentioned in the Course Outline are identified in the course along with recommended strategies for students who do not meet the requirements e.g. supporting resources, recommendations, a quiz that checks for assumed knowledge, recommendations for student enrolment changes.
Students are encouraged and invited to introduce themselves to each other online.
The relationship between the face-to-face and online components of the course is made explicit to students.
Plans for regular communication are made explicit e.g. discussion, announcements, chat, webinars, etc.
